A new measure for bursting

Abstract

We present a new measure, called B2, to quantify the degree of bursting in spike trains. The measure is based on a simple argument about the variance of interspike intervals and is related to the first serial correlation coefficient rho1. We have used the measure in a preliminary study about the influence of dendritic morphology on bursting in spike trains.
